Board of Deacons
The First Baptist Church Board of Deacons consists of eight men and eight women who are committed, active members of the church, attend worship regularly, and participate in the life of the church. Deacons are organized into four commissions to carry out their work.
Duties
General duties of the Deacons include working with the Pastoral staff to:
- Plan worship services and special events
- Provide care for church members, both active members and those who are shut-in at home, in health care centers, or in assisted living facilities
- Provide special assistance and support to members in times of crisis, such as during a serious illness or following the death of a family member
- Reach out to the local community on behalf of the First Baptist Church
- Minister to the needy
- Promote the support of world missions.

Commissons
- Worship Commission members are responsible for working with the Senior Pastor in the planning, in all aspects, of the weekly worship services and special worship services.
Members are: Becky Mallett, chairperson; Wade Miller, Lisa Miller, and Gib Miller. - World Outreach Commission members are charged with promoting world mission support through national and international ministries of the American Baptist Churches, USA.
The commission has also supported mission trips for adults to help Hurricane Katrina victims and to Nicaragua as well as youth mission trips to help inner city groups and to foreign countries such as Jamaica to rebuild their neighborhoods.
Members are: Mona McConkey, chairperson,Milt Nuzum, Rex Prescher, and George Harris III. - Community Witness Commission members are responsible for outreach to the community in the form of evangelism, social concerns and services.
The Caring Touch program, Make a Difference Day, American Red Cross Blood Drives, Habitat for Humanity work projects, and the Mountain of Food Drive for the Marietta Food Pantry are some of the commission’s services and projects.
Members are: Bonnie Hamilton, chairperson; Sharon Hambrick, Chris Casto, and John Schramm. - Membership Commission members are charged with the training and involvement of new members in church activities and with the welfare of all members of the church.
Members are: Tammy Casto, chairperson; Scott Latture, Ruth Casto, and Wanda Miller.
The Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees consists of 12 members who are organized into three commissions to carry out their work.

General duties of the Board of Trustees are:

Commissions
- Property Commission members oversee maintenance, janitorial service, use of the building and equipment, and remodeling.
Members are: Bunk Hall, Chair, Kevin Sams, Ted VanDyk and Zeke Wallis. - Stewardship Commission members prepare the annual budget, in consultation with all other commissions; exercise budget control, and oversee the auditing of the treasurer’s books and the Offering Committee’s work.
Members are: John Hambrick, Chair, Anthony Kitchen, Hugh McConkey and Anna Suerken. - Administration Commission members oversee the insurance program, legal matters, office administration, purchasing, publicity, and communication.

Board of Christian Education
The Board of Christian Education consists of 12 members who are organized into three commissions to carry out their work.
Duties
The work of the Board of Christian Education includes:
- Providing Christian education opportunities for everyone of all ages.
- Promoting and facilitating the study of God’s word
- Encouraging faith and spiritual growth through many events and activities that are organized during the year

Commissions
- Commission on Ministry with Children members oversee the educational programming for children from birth through the fifth grade.
Members are: Jamie Fox, Leonard Grant, Julie VanDyk, and Lori Schramm. - Commission on Ministry with Youth members oversee the educational programming for youth from grades 6 through 12.
Members: Rachel Davis, Chris Prescher, Barbara Harris, and Mary Nuzum. - Commission on Ministry with Adults members oversee the educational programming for post-high school and college students.
